What to expect in your first session:
Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of where to begin. If that’s you, you’re not alone. Starting therapy can feel vulnerable—but it can also be the first step toward feeling more grounded, more whole, and more yourself. I’m here to meet you exactly where you are, without judgment. I hold space for all the parts of you: the parts that feel strong, the parts that feel uncertain, the parts that are hurting, and the parts that are still growing. You don’t have to have it all figured out to begin. You just need a space that feels safe enough to start exploring.
Our first session will focus on information gathering. We will go over the business end of things such as, policies, protocols and scheduling. Then we will go over your desire for therapy, background information and your goals for therapy. You can ask any questions about the way I approach therapy.

About Amanda Pitchko, LPC
Clinical Background:
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. After receiving my undergraduate degree in Psychology, cum laude, at Albright College, I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rider University, graduating with departmental honors. While in graduate school, I co-authored a research article entitled, “Naturalistic Recovery from Non-Suicidal Self Injury: A Phenomenological Inquiry,” which was published in the Journal of Counseling & Development. I specialize in working with individuals 18 and older, including college students, young adults, and those navigating early to mid-adulthood. Many of the people I work with are members of the queer and BIPOC communities who may be holding the weight of trauma, systemic oppression, identity exploration, or past experiences of being unseen or unheard in spaces that were meant to support them. My goal is to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel empowered, centered, and deeply validated in your truth.
My past clinical experience included working in both individual and group settings, primarily supporting women with eating disorders and co-occurring mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I understand how deeply interconnected our emotional, psychological, and relational struggles can be—and how important it is to address the whole person, not just a diagnosis.
In addition to individual therapy, I work with couples of all genders and identities who are navigating relationship challenges, communication issues, parenting concerns, or major life transitions. I approach couples work with curiosity and a nonjudgmental stance, helping each partner feel heard and understood while building tools to foster connection and mutual respect.
Philosophy:
I tailor our work to meet your unique needs, values, and goals. You might be here to process trauma, make sense of your identity, improve your relationship with food and body, or simply build a stronger connection with yourself and others. No matter your reason, I’m here to support your growth in ways that feel authentic and empowering. Whether you’re beginning therapy for the first time or returning to it with a new sense of purpose, I offer a welcoming, affirming space where healing and self-discovery can unfold.
Therapeutic Approach:
Although my main approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and focusing on the mind/body connection, I allow space to be creative in sessions, adapting to the needs of clients. I provide affirming, trauma-informed therapy for my clientele. Many of my clients are navigating life transitions, identity exploration, relationship challenges, or healing from complex trauma. My approach is grounded in compassion, cultural humility, and a strong belief that everyone deserves to feel understood and respected in their unique lived experiences. I integrate evidenced-based approaches with a relational and person-centered style. At the core of our work will be a therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy and mutual respect. Together, we’ll work to deepen your self-awareness, foster resilience, and create meaningful change in how you relate to yourself, others, and the world around you. This is your space to show up fully without judgment, and at your own pace. Therapy is about creating a safe environment to grasp a deeper understanding of the self. I’m here to walk alongside you.
